The Accidental Mary Pilgrimage Tour & Retreat

THE ACCIDENTAL MARY PILGRIMAGE  TOUR & RETREAT

10-20 March 2022

In March 2022, I will lead the first 'Accidental Mary Pilgrimage' tour and retreat to a dozen sacred sites through France.

This is not a tourist experience. Whilst we will provide a wealth of historical fact and story, this is first and foremost a sacred expedition into the Divine Feminine, with a view to experiencing all that these sacred places have to offer you on your personal spiritual journey.

This 'tour' will change you. It will be beautiful, it will be emotional, and it will alter the way you look at the world and yourself. You are encouraged to spend as much time as possible in the sacred sites, in meditation, prayer and quiet reflection.

Our tour begins on the evening of 10 March in the town of Chartres, an hour south-west of Paris.

On 12 March we drive south-east through France to the exquisite medieval town of Vézelay and the stunning 11th century Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, a home to relics of the Saint.

On 14 March we travel south to Provence and the town of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, where we spend time at the Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, another home of the Saint's relics; and we climb to the mountain grotto said to have been the home of the Saint.

On 16 March, we head west to the pilgrimage town of Lourdes, stopping en route at Rennes-le-Château and the fortress of Montsegur, one of the last strongholds of the Cathars.

On 17 March, we drive north again to the World Heritage Site of Rocamadour, once one of the four greatest pilgrimage sites in the Christian world.

Our last two days will be spent in Brittany in the very north-west of France, staying on Mont St Michel and visiting Saint-Anne-d'Auray, dedicated to Saint Anne, grandmother of Jesus; and the nearby Carnac, the largest site of neolithic stones in the world, with several thousand standing stones arranged in lines 2-3 kilometres lone.

Our tour ends by the evening of the 20th and you can then train to Paris to catch your flights home, or continue with your other travel arrangements.

Workshops will be held in the afternoons/evenings, with group meditations, and we will explore aspects of the Divine Feminine and our own experiences at the places we visit. You are encouraged to journal your personal encounters and experiences and share these if you wish.

Fee is based on a twin-share and includes all domestic travel arrangements, all entry fees, all breakfasts, and evening meals on 10 March and 19 March.

Accommodation will be in a mixture of quality boutique hotels and pilgrimage centres.

You must have your own personal travel insurance and you will be required to provide details of this.

You will need a moderate level of fitness to climb to the grotto at Sainte-Baume and the fortress atop Montsegur. Good walking boots are recommended and warm outdoor clothes are a must. All mountain visits are weather-dependent, and alternative activities may be arranged.
